Why this book? “A boy who won’t stand up for himself becomes a man who can’t stand up to anything.” Through this book we are able to see a family’s love for each other, their country, and their outstanding strength to stand up for what they believe in. It expands one’s cultural understanding showing them a world through an Afghan’s eyes of place with turmoil and hardships. I chose this book because through the years this has always been a favorite of mine not only for the story but because of my love for the world and travel.
