Why this book? As I grow older, I find a stronger sense of connection to Kentucky—my birthplace as well as Wendell Berry’s. I chose this book as a reminder to myself to remember that, no matter where I go and what happens in my life, I should never forget the beauty that surrounds me and that, sometimes, there must be madness to keep us sane.
