Author: Kathryn Stockett
Student: Carly Budzynski
Why this book? I read this book in one sitting my sophomore year of college the Saturday before finals week. It was a world I was unfamiliar with being from suburban Milwaukee, but I was hooked by the southern culture of the 1962’s Jackson, Mississippi. I loved the idea of oppressed women in society using their stories to cause discussion and raise awareness of what goes on behind closed doors.
