Why this book? I took a course in James Joyce and Irish literature the first semester of my senior year, and by the end of the year, I was completely captivated by Joyce’s writing style. It really made me step back and consider my own writing style and opened my mind to all of the different possibilities of language. Dubliners, and particularly the book’s final story, “The Dead”, was my favorite thing we read in class.
