Clay Shackelford
Title: The Peace of Wild Things and Other Poems
Author: Wendell Berry
Student: Clay Shackelford
Why this book? This is a poem by the esteemed Kentucky author, farmer and environmentalist (to very modestly name a few), Wendell Berry, that I simply enjoy. I find the poem quite calming, albeit a little dark at the start, but very relaxing as Berry finds peace among nature. This poem is relatable and reflexive of my time in Kentucky, as I often find myself escaping the monotony of undergraduate life to find respite in the solitude of the outdoors. I would love for this to be my poem/book of choice.
