Title: the Namesake
Author: Jhumpa Lahire
Student: Jordan Corley
Why this book? “You are still young, free. Do yourself a favor. Before it is too late, without thinking too much about it, pack a pillow and a blanket and see as much of the world as you can. You will not regret it. One day it will be too late.” -Jhumpa Lahiri
The Namesake was a book I had to read for high school I believe my senior year and I am so grateful I had to. For a story about immigrants have to adjust to a different culture while staying in touch with their roots. And there were aspects of the story I connected to and hold weight to me as I grown into my own identity. This book was a great coming of age story. I just love how this story shows the ups and downs of growing up and becoming your own person. And to accept who you are as a person. And the film adaptation was pretty good.
