Title: Appalachian Elegy: Poetry and Place by bell hooks
Student: Anna Spradling
Why this book? I chose Appalachian Elegy because it speaks to how Appalachia shapes who you are no matter where you go. As an Appalachian woman, I relate to this sense of rootedness, and I value how bell hooks challenges narrow ideas of belonging in ways that resonate across diverse identities within the region.
