Title: Check, Please! Book 2, Sticks and Stones by Ngozi Ukazu
Student: Isaac Bandy
Why this book? I began reading Check, Please! as a webcomic while in high school and have since collected both volumes and other extra zines. Discovering the series was a foundational event in my life as it introduced me to new aspects of fan culture and literary theory at various points. I found myself closely connecting with the characters and their narratives and continue to see the comic’s impact on how, what, and why I read.
