Why this Book? This book was recommended to me by my 6th grade English teacher. Though I had read many books prior to this one, this was the first book that impacted me on an emotional level. Though my life experiences were very different from Patty’s, she was a character with whom I felt instantly and deeply connected. The core message of this book (“always remember that you are a person of value”) is one we all need to hear.
