Leokadia (Kadi) Boesel

Title:  Up From Slavery

Student:  Leokadia (Kadi) Boesel

Why this book?  As a future educator I found this book to be inspiring.  The daily struggles that Washington endured are a testament to his character and his dedication to the education of younger generations.  Depite the many difficulties that he faced, he never lost his faith.  The Tuskegee Institute that he and his students built is something that all young people should know about.  Washington’s memior reveals to the reader that with determination and faith people can acheive their goals. His dedication to the school, his students, and his own education is something to admire and has had a profound impact on my future as a teacher.
